Events Scheduled for the Fourth Annual Volunteer Hardy Initiative
Three opportunities to learn about and support Hardy County nonprofits are coming up this August as part of the Community Foundation’s Volunteer Hardy initiative.
Volunteer Hardy began in 2014 with the intent of shining the spotlight on the vibrant community service sector and the organizations and volunteers who work tirelessly to make Hardy County thrive.
This year three organizations will participate by hosting fundraising events throughout the county during the month of August. More organizations are planning events for September.
Event details for the August fundraisers are as follows:
Saturday, August 26th – Chicken Barbecue hosted by the Moorefield Lions Club. 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Moorefield Town Park. Cost $4.00 per half chicken.
Saturday, August 26th – Ice Cream Social hosted by the Mathias Ruritan Club. 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Mathias Schoolhouse Cafeteria. Other items available including pork sandwiches, hot dogs/chili dogs, pie and cake. Cost varies.
Sunday, August 27th – Bingo hosted by the Baker Ruritan Club. 2:00 p.m. (doors open at 1:00) in the East Hardy High School Cafeteria. Prizes include items from Longaberger, Pampered Chef and Thirty-One. $20 per player ($10 for an additional packet). Must be 18 or older to play.
Proceeds from these fundraisers will benefit the many valuable programs and activities of each organization, as well as the Community Foundation’s unrestricted grantmaking fund (Community Impact Fund), which supports a wide variety of charitable causes throughout the county.
We invite and encourage everyone to help us thank and support our nonprofit organizations whose efforts play such a vital role in preserving the qualities of Hardy County that we all treasure. Mark your calendars today and plan to support one or more of these events.
