On August 2, the Two Rivers Giving Circle awarded Bonnie Stubblefield the 2015 Conservation Award for her tireless volunteer work in the community, particularly with the Land Trust of the Eastern Panhandle. Founded in 2007, the Two Rivers Giving Circle recognizes individuals that champion conservation and preservation programs in the region, and awards grants to fund organizations that focus on conservation and preservation projects.
The Conservation Award presentation took place during the Giving Circle’s Annual Picnic at Yankauer Preserve in Berkeley County.
The Giving Circle is one of the few grant makers in the region that focuses on conservation and historic preservation. Each member of the Giving Circle makes a tax deductible donation of $500 or more to the Community Foundation annually. During the past seven years, grants totaling more than $52,000 have been awarded to such causes in our community.
This fall, the Giving Circle will award nearly $10,000 in grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 in Jefferson, Berkeley, and Morgan Counties. The grant submission deadline for 2015 has already passed.
