The Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation (EWVCF) is celebrating 30 years of shared success. In August of 1995, a group of dedicated and forward-thinking community leaders established a community foundation for West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle, embracing the concept that people working together to build an endowment for the community can make a difference and improve the quality of life for all people in a region, not just in the present, but forever.
George Hancock endowed the first fund with a $100,000 gift in memory of his wife, Holly Woods Hancock. Since then, EWVCF grown to nearly 400 component funds and over $60 million in net assets. A leading grant maker in our region, EWVCF has awarded well over $16 million in grants and scholarships across our five-county area.
