2026 West Virginia Neighborhood Investment Program Tax Credits Now Available

The West Virginia Community Advancement and Development Office recently announced that the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation was allocated $23,400 in tax credits through the Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP). Qualifying gifts of at least $500 can be made to the Foundation to earn a 50% West Virginia income tax credit for the donor. Donors can receive a maximum of $2,000 in NIP tax credits for gifts of $4,000 or more. Donations made to the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation for NIP tax credits will be allocated as follows:
Please note that our allocation guidelines have changed.
3% of the gift goes back to the West Virginia Development Office to cover their cost of implementing the program.

50% of the contribution will be distributed by one or more of our County Community Impact Funds. As the donor, you may choose which county fund(s) to support (Jefferson, Berkeley, Morgan, Hampshire, and Hardy), and the advisors to that fund will award grants to address critical needs in the county.

The remaining 47% of the gift will be directed to a new Emergency Housing Fund established to address critical housing needs in all five EWVCF counties.
Donors may use the credits to reduce liability for West Virginia Personal Income Tax or Corporate Net Income Tax by up to 50% per year, and you have five years to use all the credits.
Credits are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.  Email or call me soon to reserve yours. These will go fast.

TO RESERVE TAX CREDITS: Contact Kirsten Avey at [email protected], or by calling 304-264-0353.

We ask that all contributions be made immediately after confirmation that they have been reserved, but no later than December 1st, 2026.

Founded in 1995 to work with local donors to build a permanent community endowment, the Community Foundation has awarded more than $1.7 million in annual grants and scholarships to local nonprofit organizations and college-bound students and provides financial stewardship for over 400 funds with approximately $72 million in assets.
