The Hampshire County Winter/Spring Grants competitive grants program is made possible through endowed funds created by donors who are committed to local philanthropy and improving the quality of life in Hampshire County. Funds supporting our winter/spring grant program include the Hampshire county Community Impact Fund, the Environmental Education Fund, the J. Holland and Anita Rannells and Gorda and Mona Saville Fund, and the William Brady and Jean Taylor Rannells Fund.
Grant Guidelines
This program supports a wide range of community interests and programs, including: Animal Welfare, Arts & Culture, Children & Youth, Community & Economic Development, Education, the Environment*, Mental and Physical Health & Wellness, and Human Services. Programs that promote community connectedness, celebrate diversity, and promote equity and inclusion are encouraged.
Funding Amount: Requests of up to $1,000 will be considered.
Eligible Organizations: Organizations located in and/or providing direct benefits to Hampshire County residents.
*Organizations in Morgan County, as well as Hampshire County, are eligible to apply for funding for youth-based environmental education projects (Conservation/Preservation).
Attention Teachers: If you are seeking funding for individual classroom grants, please wait to apply through our 2026 Mini Grants to Teachers application in late May.
Organizations may apply if they are:
- A nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization in good standing with the IRS,
- A government/quasi-governmental agency, or public school (for school-wide projects only) applying for a project that is not funded by taxrevenue,
- A religious organization requesting funding for non-sectarian activities, or
- A civic group that is not a 501(c)(3) organization requesting funding for a charitable community cause
Required Financial Information for 501(c)(3) and nonprofit civic organizations
Applications must include financial information for the organization as a whole, and in addition:
- Organizational budget
- Recently filed IRS Form 990 if the organization’s income is greater than $50,000. All others should provide their most recent financial statement.
In addition, 501(c)(3) organizations must be in good standing with:
- West Virginia Secretary of State’s Business & Licensing and also the Charities Division:

Application Period – January 16th – February 16th
Grant Notification – Grantees will be notified by late March.
Reporting : A brief summary of accomplishments with pictures will be expected upon completion of the funded program or by December 10th, 2026. Extensions may be requested.
