The Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation has been serving donors and nonprofit organizations in our region for the past 26 years. We award more than $1 million in grants and scholarships annually and have grown from a single $100,000 scholarship fund to 260 endowments holding $35 million in assets. In 2020 we established our COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund and raised $350,000 to help nonprofit organizations survive during the pandemic. Our initial service area included Jefferson, Berkeley, and Morgan Counties, but we now include Hampshire and Hardy Counties in our footprint.
The wonderful cover photo of Autumn Tighe lovingly preparing bread during the pandemic was provided by our friends at The River House in Capon Bridge. We feel this image perfectly illustrates the resiliency of our community and how we all work together to address the needs of those less fortunate.
