Rebecca Knight Joins EWVCF Team

We’d like to introduce you to the newest member of our EWVCF team. Rebecca Knight started working here as Administrative Assistant/Office Manager on Monday, June 28th and she’s already fitting in nicely. Although we’ve been operating with just three team members for the past eight months, and we are all on a steep learning curve, she is adjusting quite well.
Rebecca hails from Charles Town and is a 2017 graduate of Shepherd University. Her degree in Sociology (and minor in English) will help her do a splendid job serving our donors and grantees. Although she has no previous Office Management experience, Rebecca received glowing letters of recommendation from two Shepherd University professors and from her long-time boss at WonderBooks in Frederick, Maryland. Those letters and the fact that she nailed the interview really sold us on Rebecca.
As you can imagine, we have been facing a number of challenges since the pandemic hit in March of 2020, but Amy and Karin have done a splendid job of going above and beyond to make sure that things continued to run smoothly. When so many nonprofit organizations were struggling, it was gratifying to know that our team rallied and came through when times were really tough.
Special thanks also to our EWVCF donors, board members, emeritus leaders, and technical advisors, for supporting our efforts to help scores of nonprofit organizations by providing desperately needed funding during the pandemic. The fact that we were able to award more than $1.1 million in grants and scholarships in 2020 is a great testimonial to the value of the work being done by all involved.
As you can see in this photo, we are fully vaccinated and glad to be back together in person as a team. Karin, Rebecca, and I will be working primarily from the Martinsburg office, with some remote options available for all of the team. Our affiliate office is moving in late July and Amy will share space with our friends at Catholic Charities.
If you are in downtown Martinsburg, please stop and say “hi” to Rebecca, Karin, and me. We are truly looking forward to seeing you in person!
